Pediatric Dentistry in Jounieh and Tripoli

The first appointment has one job, and it is not to fix anything. It is to make sure the child comes back willingly.

A child being treated at Chaptini Smile Clinic

Starting early, starting easy

We like to see children around their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth. At that age there is nothing to do but look, count, and let them sit in the chair while a parent holds them.

Children who meet a dentist before anything hurts grow into adults who go to the dentist. That is the whole point of the early visits.

How we handle treatment

We explain what we are about to do in words a child understands, show them the instrument first, and stop when they ask us to. Nothing is done by surprise. Parents stay in the room.

When a child is genuinely too anxious or too young to cooperate for the treatment they need, we say so and discuss the alternatives rather than forcing the appointment through.

Baby teeth matter

They hold space for the adult teeth behind them. A baby molar lost early lets the teeth beside it drift into the gap, and the adult tooth arrives to find nowhere to go. A large share of orthodontic crowding starts exactly there.

They also hurt. A child with an abscessed baby tooth is in real pain, and the infection sits directly above the developing permanent tooth.

Questions about pediatric

When should my child first see a dentist?

By their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. The early visits are short and are mainly about familiarity.

My child is terrified. What can you do?

Bring them in for a visit with nothing planned — just sitting in the chair and meeting us. Most fear comes from not knowing what happens. We work at the child's pace and we do not hold children down.

Do baby teeth with cavities need treating?

Usually yes. Untreated decay in a baby tooth causes pain, infection near the developing adult tooth, and early tooth loss that leads to crowding later.

Can I stay with my child during treatment?

Yes, always. Parents are welcome in the room for the whole appointment.
